Wind & Solar

Berlin, Germany, July 22, 2024 — Trailstone Group, a global energy and technology company delivering risk management and optimization solutions for renewable assets, is now providing physical balancing services in Sweden for renewable energy developer and asset manager, Dragaliden Vind AB, and the Swedish Wind Power Cooperative, Sveriges Vindkraftkooperativ Ekonomisk Förening (SVEF) following a successful negotiation between the parties which was supported by Enercon Energy Partners (EEP).

Trailstone will provide physical balancing services for 8 wind farms and one solar plant spread across all 4 Swedish bidding zones with an aggregate energy generation of 46.80 MW. This deal marks Trailstone’s first physical balancing deal in Sweden and extends Trailstone’s coverage in the Nordic region to include Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Ante Pogacic, Global Head of Power & Renewables at Trailstone said: “We are delighted to be supporting Dragaliden Vind AB and SVEF through the provision of balancing services for their assets in Sweden. We have only been active in the Nordic region since 2023 and are now able to offer physical balancing and route to market services in 3 countries. We look forward to developing our relationship with SVEF and supporting the great work they are doing to facilitate the energy transition and deliver low-cost renewable energy for their members.

Niclas Malmberg, Chairman of the Board at SVEF said: “As SVEF has grown to become the biggest Wind Power Cooperative in Sweden we’re glad to broaden our business partners and look forward to working with Trailstone. In the future we see a chance to recruit members in the other nordic countries, without losing our purpose of delivering low-cost renewable energy.

Mohamed Ibrahim, Head of Portfolio Management at EEP added: “The negotiations went in a smooth and flexible way between all the parties and we believe it will be a beneficial and fruitful cooperation between the stakeholders.”

Trailstone entered the Nordic market in 2023 to help renewable asset owners in the region navigate market rule changes and optimize production and returns amid increasing market volatility as renewables make up a growing portion of energy generation. In addition to balancing services, Trailstone also offers a suite of renewable energy products to help asset owners and managers reduce risk and optimize returns, including route to market Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), corporate PPAs and the supply/offtake of Guarantees of Origin.

About Sveriges Vindkraftkooperativ Ekonomisk Förening (SVEF)

The Swedish Wind Power Cooperative was formed in 1998 and is an economic association where the members jointly own wind and solar power production facilities distributed throughout Sweden. SVEF contributes to the transformation of the energy sector by investing in renewable electricity production, while providing the member with cheap electricity. SVEF welcomes new members, both private individuals and legal entities. The basic philosophy of SVEF is that an investment should provide sufficient returns to enable renewed investments without new member contributions. In this way, the member's investment in renewable electricity production is managed in the long term. The association has no employees, but a working board that reinvests, develops, operates and manages the association's machinery and member interests.
